The Neurodiversity Saved Room is intended to be a starting point for creating a Teleo room for neurodiverse clients. Keep your client’s unique likes, preferences, and treatment goals in mind as you customize the room to fit their needs. This guide offers some ideas for additional adaptations.

Welcome Poster

Upload an image of your client’s special interest(s) or showcase your client’s saved artwork from the Client Album. Ask your client for input about what they’d like to see here.

Whiteboard

Use the whiteboard to create an agenda for the session together with your client. Creating an agenda at the start of your session can help provide structure and a visual schedule of your time together.

⭐ Quick Tip

Use the Check-in and Session Plan by Teleo available in the Activity Bank.

Check In/Out

A structured check-in question using the Emotion Chart, or the Rose-Thorn-Bud activity available in the Activity Bank, can be a great way to start or wrap up the session.

Video

Link to psychoeducational videos to help your client learn about neurodiversity from an affirming lens, or show a video demonstration of a therapy skill they will learn in session. The default video is set to a neurodiversity-affirming video about autism.

Pro Tip

Examples of other video adaptations might be:

Sensory Activity

This is Sand by Beige Elephant is set as the default sensory activity in the room based on popular request from many neurodivergent clients. Swap it out with the Online Sand Tray by Dr. Fried available in the Activity Bank, or include additional sensory-based activities to meet your clients’ sensory needs.

✨Pro Tip

Additional sensory-based activity ideas might be:

Creative Activity

Including creative activities is important for neurodivergent kids to explore their creative strengths and expression. The Lego Builder and Art Coloring Book are included in the default room.

Quick Tip

Looking for other curated and creative activities? In the Activity Bank, options for filtering make it easy to pull up what you need. Use:

  • Type and filter by Art/Creative, Music, Sand Tray,

  • Approach and filter by Art Therapy and Play Therapy

Strengths Activity

Identifying strengths is not always easy for neurodivergent kids. The About Me Sentence Completion activity is a great way to ask structured questions to get kids thinking about their unique superpowers.

Flexibility Game

The Flexibility Game from Unstuck and On Target is included as a fun way to teach cognitive flexibility and problem-solving skills to neurodivergent learners.

✨Pro Tip

Try Making It Work by Sesame Street for younger kids.

Teleo Client Album

Utilize the Client Album to save client work or creations they are proud of!

As you explore and adapt this room, think of it as a creative tool rather than a finished product. Small changes can make a big impact in helping your clients feel seen, supported, and empowered in their virtual space.
