Teleo's two modes: talk mode and room mode

Written by Kate Haznaw (LCSW/LICSW)

Teleo's individual platform has two ways to connect with clients, and you can move seamlessly between them at any time by clicking the Talk Mode Expander and Contracting icon over your video.

Talk Mode

Talk Mode is your traditional telehealth view. It's perfect for talk-based interventions for clients of all ages, where you'd like to see the client's video larger and have minimal distractions. You can launch and interact with collaborative activities in Talk Mode, just as you can from Room Mode. However, Talk Mode is a clinician-directed space; only clinicians can see the right-hand side panel and launch activities.

The right-hand side panel contains the same activities that are connected to icons in Room Mode. If you edit your right-hand side panel, you'll also be editing the icons in Room Mode and vice versa.

Room Mode

Room mode is Teleo's collaborative space, ideal for fostering autonomy and choice among clients. It is particularly beneficial for:

  • Children and adolescents, especially for play therapy strategies, allowing clinicians to be child directed and track alongside the client.

  • Adolescents, where motivational interviewing strategies of autonomy and choice can be employed to enhance motivation.

  • Neurodiverse clients of all ages, providing a sense of autonomy and facilitating practice with transitions.

Room mode is highly customizable to patient preferences. Details on customizing your Teleo room is covered in this article.

Talk mode features

Move between Modes

You can switch between talk mode and room mode at any time by selecting the expanding or contracting arrows located at the top right corner of your video bubbles.

Right Hand Side Panel

The right-hand side panel contains all the activities in your room, which you can launch directly from talk mode. The right-hand side panel is only visible to clinicians.

If you delete an activity, it will also be removed in room mode. Conversely, if you add an activity in talk mode, it will also be added in room mode. You can minimize and expand the right-hand side panel at any time by clicking the tab with the arrow.

Change between gallery view and speaker view.

Video controls

Hover over your video to access the video controls. Here, you can turn your camera on or off, set a custom background, mute your microphone, or click the three dots for additional video settings such as:

  • Selecting your video or audio input.

  • Turning closed captions on or off.

  • Hiding self-view or selecting wide screen.

Clinicians also have the ability to turn their client's camera on or off by hovering over the client's video.
